Ghilotti Construction Company announces the promotions of Matt McDonald to Vice President of Public Works and Dale Mahoney to Vice President of Private Works
Ghilotti Construction Company (GCC) is proud to announce the promotions of Matt McDonald to Vice President of Public Works and Dale Mahoney to Vice President of Private Works, effective immediately.
These promotions represent an important milestone in GCC’s leadership succession strategy and reinforce the company’s commitment to developing exceptional leaders from within its employee-owned organization. As members of the executive leadership team, Matt and Dale will provide strategic leadership over GCC’s two primary business segments while helping guide the future growth, operational excellence, financial performance, and talent development initiatives of the company.
Together, these appointments position GCC to continue building on its reputation as one of Northern California’s premier heavy civil contractors while strengthening its ability to serve both public agency and private-sector clients across an increasingly diverse market.
Matt McDonald
VICE PRESIDENT, PUBLIC WORKS

Matt McDonald has been promoted to Vice President of Public Works, where he will provide operational, financial, and strategic leadership for GCC’s Public Works segment, overseeing project delivery, client relationships, risk management, organizational development, and overall business performance.
Born and raised in Petaluma, California, Matt attended Petaluma High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University. Since joining Ghilotti Construction Company in 2017, Matt has steadily advanced through positions of increasing responsibility, including Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, Area Manager, and now Vice President. His career progression reflects both his technical expertise and his ability to lead high-performing teams while delivering successful project outcomes.
During his tenure, Matt has led several of GCC’s most significant infrastructure projects, including the Brookfield Homes Vast Oak Development, Lytton Rancheria, Lagoon Valley Development, and the 7th Street Grade Separation East Project. These accomplishments, combined with his strong leadership and commitment to employee development, have earned the trust and respect of clients, colleagues, and employee-owners throughout the organization.
In his new role, Matt will focus on advancing GCC’s public-sector operations, strengthening agency partnerships, developing future leaders, and ensuring the continued successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects throughout Northern California.
Dale Mahoney
VICE PRESIDENT, PRIVATE WORKS

B.S. Civil Engineering, San Francisco State
Dale Mahoney has been promoted to Vice President of Private Works, where he will lead GCC’s commercial and residential operations and oversee the continued growth of the company’s private-sector business.
Dale brings more than three decades of engineering, construction, and operational leadership experience to the role with over 23 years of service here at Ghilotti Construction. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from San Francisco State University and has built a distinguished career delivering complex projects and developing long-standing client relationships throughout Northern California.
Over the course of his career, Dale has played a key role in the successful delivery of numerous landmark developments, including the Marin Health and Wellness Center, Harvest Business Park, Fountaingrove Executive Center, Schaefer Ranch, Candlestick Cove, The Greens at Windsor, Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, Russian River Brewery Windsor, Quarry Heights and the 2017 Sonoma Complex Fire Contract.
As Vice President of Private Works, Dale will concentrate on strengthening customer relationships, expanding negotiated work opportunities, driving business development, and supporting the successful execution of GCC’s growing private-sector portfolio.
