GHILOTTI CONSTRUCTION COMPANY LTD JOINS SAUSALITO ART FESTIVAL AS PRESENTING SPONSOR OF THE AMERICAN ICON ART EXHIBIT
The Sausalito Art Festival has announced that Ghilotti Construction Company will be the presenting sponsor of the American Icon Art exhibit at the upcoming Sausalito Art Festival, September 5-7, Labor Day weekend. The American Icon Art Competition is presented by the Sausalito Art Festival and culminates in a special exhibit during the 2015 Festival. The theme for 2015 is “Wings. Wheels. Waves. Iconic American Transportation.”
“We are honored to have Ghilotti Construction as a major sponsor at this year’s Festival,” said Festival Managing Director, Paul Anderson. “Our focus on the arts is well aligned with Ghilotti Construction’s nonprofit mission to improve arts education. And, sponsoring the American Icon exhibit will be a great way to highlight this mission.”
The American Icon Art Competition gives artists the platform to express their vision of iconic American Transportation in a variety of media. Professional and amateur artists from around the world are invited to participate and to express their vision of how America moves using photography, painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media. Cash prizes will be awarded.
Family owned and operated since 1914, Ghilotti Construction Company has over 100 years of engineering experience and a family tradition of hard work and dependability. Two years ago, the Ghilotti family established a nonprofit, the dg Foundation in honor of their son, Dino.
The dg Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Nancy and Richard Ghilotti in honor of their son, Dino Richard Ghilotti Motta, after he left us tragically in May of 2013 at the young age of 22. The dg Foundation is dedicated to helping students by providing scholarships, and improving various art programs and art facilities throughout the United States. The dg Foundation is currently renovating and restoring the art building at San Domenico School where Dino began his studies and developed his passion for art. Dino’s mother Nancy, a co-founder of the foundation, recently passed away. The dg Foundation officially named Nancy Motta Ghilotti an honoree of the foundation along with her son Dino. The foundation is dedicated to carrying on the legacy of a young man and his mother with a passion for academics, athletics and arts, who both had a constant desire to help others who were less fortunate. Sausalito Art Festival
More than 260 award-winning artists from around the country and some 30,000 patrons flock to the waterfront village of Sausalito, California, on Labor Day weekend each year for the annual Sausalito Art Festival. Now in its 63rd year, the Sausalito Art Festival is one of the country’s premiere art events that attracts patrons because of its world class art, celebrated entertainment lineup, special exhibitions and a cornucopia of gourmet food, wine, beer and specialty beverages. Participating artists are selected by a rigorous jury process and exhibit a wide range of work, including painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, glass, fiber and fashion, wood, photography, mixed media and more.
The Festival is produced by the nonprofit Sausalito Art Festival Foundation, which supports year-round activities along with the annual Festival. Proceeds from the Festival support the local arts community with student scholarships, grants to non-profit arts organizations and community programs. Each year, some 1,000 community volunteers help keep the Festival running smoothly. www.sausalitoartfestival.org
